Artist Profile: Corinne Young
I am a textile artist specialising in embroidery. Past commissions have included wall hangings for the Lord of the Rings stage shows, framed pictures, and unique soft furnishings and garments. Highlights for 2011 have included an installation at Burton Constable Hall inspired by the 17th Century origins of the 'Carved' room and some of the beautiful pieces to be found in the Hall.
I see everything I make as if it were a canvas to be embellished and use organic, recycled and pre-loved materials. My inspiration is the natural world, with a particular focus on plants. My large collection of vintage ephemera also features strongly in my new work.
Depending on size and detail, my work varies in cost from £150 to £750 plus.
