Since the summer of 2012, artists Martin Pearson and Hamish Marr have been working on a photographic project called 'Shadow Laughter'.  In their photographs, they create situations of mystery, intrigue and sometimes danger, with reference to the visual forms of film noir.  They have been uploading 'episodes' to facebook for many weeks, on a Thursday evening, usually preceded by a 'trailer' on a Tuesday.  Recently, episodes have been posted on a blog, enabling access for non-facebookers.  By commenting on the photos, viewers may also influence the development of the story.

The cosmic American love child of Howlin' Wolf and Link Wray, musician’s musician and blues guitar supremo Alvin Youngblood Hart's praises have been sung by everyone from Ben Harper to Brit guitar gods Eric Clapton and Mick Taylor.

Since his 1996 debut recording, Alvin has carried his 'no barriers' musical message the world over, aiming to delight the masses and challenge the so-called blues purists, winning a W.C. Handy Award, two Living Blues Awards and a Grammy in the process. Mixing country blues, 1970s guitar rock and elements of western swing and vintage country, Alvin's sound has captured the imagination of some of the globe's greatest rock and roots exponents with the likes of Bo Diddley, Gary Moore and Taj Mahal personally inviting him to perform with and tour alongside them.

Alvin has starred in, and offered expertise for, a number of feature films, tutoring and singing with the likes of Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci, while his live performances have been featured on radio and television the world over including BBC Radio 2's Paul Jones show and Later...With Jools Holland.

Created by former Coal Porters five-string banjo player Pat McGarvey in 2006, and taking their name from the groundbreaking multi-racial union of sharecroppers and non-landowning tenant farmers founded in Arkansas in the 1930s, Edinburgh-based Southern Tenant Folk Union are now the most highly rated folk and bluegrass outfit in the UK today.

A seven piece all acoustic band with banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harmony vocals, they perform an eclectic array of murder ballads and laments mixed with high energy atmospheric folk and hootenanny sawdust-kickers. In 2010 the band were awarded Americana Artist of the Year at the British Country Music Awards, and have since been championed by BBC radio's Bob Harris and Steve Lamacq as well as making live appearances on RTE TV, BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends and recording sessions for Mark Lamarr's Radio 2 show.
